Tuckasegee River Fly Fishing
The Tuckasegee is similar in size to many larger rivers found in the Rocky Mountain west. The river’s name comes from that of a Cherokee village, Tsiksitsi (meaning “Crawling Terrapin,” for the slower moving waters). The Tuck is roughly 52 miles long and flows into Fontana Lake below Bryson City. With it’s clean cold water and many rock ledges, the fish here have a great place to live. Wading the Tuck is a great option, but the real fun is floating the river from drift boats, rafts and catarafts!
We have guided Fly and Spin Fishing on the Tuckasegee River for over 22 years. In that time we have guided more Float Trips than any other outfitter in the area. Our guides know the Tuck very well. In many cases this is the river they grew up on.
